FAMILIAR FACES

A volume of short stories from the hand of a good craftsman, the type of stories that one can safely recommend for people who want good, substantial woman's magazine reading. Marriage, in high gear and low, forms the subject of a good many of the stories, but the ones I liked best were homespun human interest stories about old people. For the type of story, and the quality, read One Hour of Glory, in which a veteran of the Civil War visits his grandson in Washington today; The Philanderer's Wife, in which a woman celebrates her Silver Wedding by asking for a divorce; Mr. Cohen Takes A Walk, in which an old Jew feels himself being put on the shelf, and sets out to get acquainted with the world again. The stories wont add new laurels to Mrs. Rinehart's wreath, but they should have a reasonably good market.
