HUNTED LADY

After a long gap, another Miss Pinkerton (Nurse Adams) story, as Inspector Fuller sends her on a case involving supposed hallucinations of bats, rats and snakes of old Mrs. Fairbanks who locks her door, plays solitaire, plays her radio at odd hours, and watches her unhappy family disintegrate around her. Finally, after strange doings, the old lady is stabbed, with the nurse on guard -- some arrests are half-heartedly made servant is poisoned -- an attack made on the granddaughter -- and finally Nurse Adams assembles a motley collection of clues, pieces them together, and finds the answer to the murderer's identity, remote control system, and the source of the menagerie. Mrs. Rinehart is unfailingly a good story teller, and this has some new gags. But I felt there were some loose ends, and the solution didn't quite ring a bell satisfactorily.
