KIRKUS REVIEW

Carries on the matter and media of Strife Before Dawn, in a fictional recapitulation of the war of 1913 -- efficient enough but more education than entertainment. The scene is localized largely around Detroit and Fort Wayne, with the British and Indians opposed to the Americans. Rufe Hazard, the hero, has quite a way with him, and is loved by two maidens, the solid, faithful Jane, and the lovely part-Indian, Louise. He marries Louise, is captured by the Indians -- and Louise maintains her loyalty to Tecumash and his cause. Rufe takes part in the memorable Battle of Lake Erie, and returns to find Louise murdered, and Jane still faithful. True incidents, true personages are woven into a fictional plot.
