KIRKUS REVIEW

Frankly we found this a fairly noxiously saccharine confection -- out of ye olden times. Mrs. McFinny is the poor, toiling old lady who is almost done in by the demands of the body and the tax collector- and helped over the bumps by her errand running pets. Then to the rescue comes the poor little rich boy, in need of the companionship and affection she can give, and Peter's father's hard heart is touched and all live happily ever after.
