Young Tod of the Bantam Hockey League is a poor stickhandler and, blaming his equipment, he hopes for a new stick for Christmas. When he gets it, however, he realizes that he doesn't deserve it, and he puts it away in his closet until he does. With lots of speed, Tod has the potential of a good wingman, and through self-discipline and application he improves his rink performance to win the admiration of the coach, his father, and his teammates...Score? perhaps not as much of a sporting chance as Christopher's baseball, basketball, and football books since ice hockey doesn't have as strong a spectator or participant interest at this age level.
