Sylvester Coddmyer III knows that he owes his suddenly acquired ability to hit a home run every time at bat to his mysterious coach George Baruth (get it?), but only pesty Snooky Malone (who's read widely in astrology and the occult) suspects that his hitting streak can't last forever. it lasts long enough, however, for Syl to win a trophy as ""best athlete ever"" -- adding a wish-fulfilling climax to the snappy play-by-play story of how Syl compiled that 1.000 batting average.
