TOSCA'S CHRISTMAS

For cat lovers, a cat's point-of-view narration of mostly realistic Christmas events: Tosca is scolded when she tries to gift-wrap herself and later knocks down the tree; banished to the outdoors, she meets Santa, who leaves her a gift. Narration is deft and entertaining; the finely detailed illustrations, by a specialist in miniature painting in her first picture book, are closely observed and sure to appeal.
