CANDY DOES IT AGAIN

With her mother and older brother and sister, Candy Bentley is off for an exciting holiday by the son in quaint San Fernandez, Spain, where she meets Peter Ransome who is investigating some jewel thefts for a British insurance company. Between swimming, sightseeing and relishing the unusual hotel foods, the irrepressible Candy manages to unravel the code in Peter's diary, trace the jewels to their ingenious cache, (the hollow heels of one of the waitress' shoes) and lead Peter and the police to the smugglers themselves. The dialogue is very English (with touches of French and Spanish) though Candy's spelling is not -- another one of the characteristics which will endear her to her American friends. A crisp adventure in a foreign locale.
