KIRKUS REVIEW

This text, written by the former Deputy-Keeper of Zoology in the Natural History section of the British Museum, deals with those mammals who live in water. Chapters on whales, seals, otters, river-horse and sea cow, beavers, water voles and rats, and the platypus- as well as two general chapters dealing with the evolution of these, render this a completely engrossing study. But it is so advanced that only serious and intelligent young naturalists will benefit from Dr. Burton's meticulous and vivid account.
