Mr. Charles Dillon Stengel, the Casey of the title, is an intelligent man of 74 who manages one of the most incompetent major league ball teams ever seen -- the New York Mets. As a manager he may be brilliant or inadequate, and many a punch is thrown about this, but he is incontestably one of the great clowns of the century.
