AN ANTHOLOGY FOR ""THE ENJOYMENTT OF POETRY

A companion volume to Eastman's popular Enjoyment of Poetry and an interesting anthology which covers pretty comprehensively the field of English and American poetry since Chaucerian times. Although the names are for the most part standardly accepted, the selections representing them are not hackneyed, in fact some are often unfamiliar. Under five classifications -- sensuous perception of the world without and its colors; action: emotion; idea: and the world of fancy and imagination -- and no inclusion of poetry that is obscure. On the whole, in spite of tried and trueness of some well known poetry, we think you will feel the lack of old friends, particularly as some of the replacements are not the same level. But it's a good, catholic selection and Eastman's following is large.
