KIRKUS REVIEW

Sub-titled ""Being an Introduction to San Diego, Mexico's Baja California, and a Voyage into the Gulf of California- This Combined Region of the Southwest Corner"", this is- as you can see- a random chronicle which reflects once again the comfortable, casual charm which is Max Miller's. There's something about San Diego- its dunes, its river, its statue of Cabrillo, its famous padre- Father Serra, its cowboys and its condors. And on the cruise in the upper Gulf there are deserted shores and ghost towns, birds and whales, a tidal bore and a fog, and a distressing water shortage... A friendly, passing commentary which, if insubstantial, may catch a local market.
