Broad satire on college life, in the career through Freshman year of Asa Hearthrug, who runs the gamut of higher learning, --leaving home, fraternities, parties, instructors, brothers, classmates, co-eds, through the courses and schools of the University of Minnesota, until he is flunked out. He is run for office as a dark horse in a freshman election, but loses after a wacky campaign; he has girl trouble, but manages to keep clear of damaging entanglements; he returns home to find that strange things have happened to his family. Force that scoffs at college customs, traditions, types, that has a youthful approach, of some fun to some readers.
