HOW TO GET A MAN AFTER YOU'RE FORTY

Maxine and Barbara, writing alternate chapters, come up with THE ANSWERS: get a job and lose weight. Actually, we might all have been better off if they had cross-stitched a sampler (You Can Never Be Too Thin Or Too Rich) and mailed it to their readers. That way, we could have been spared 250 pages of big buildup. . . . ""This is real life,"" Barbara concludes. ""I lost the job but I still have the man. Worse could have happened. I could've stayed home. See you around."" Not likely.
