WORD OF HONOR

... is the drama of two horses--one a respected has-been, the other a three-legged cripple; it is the tragedy of one son, self-centered and destructive, and the success story of his half-brother who assumes the responsibility of managing his father's farm when he is only seventeen. All the story lines are knotted complexly together and framed in melodrama. However, despite the incredible course of events, this novel of the Deep South, of the many bizarre characters, and of the horses is interesting from beginning to end. Enjoyable, emotional reading for female horse-fanatics- with romance roaming in on a part, later full-time, basis.
