A season with The Hawks, a midwestern Little League team, provides not only a game by game, play by play account of their victories and defeats but does some character building on the side (""winning"" isn't the ""main object"") and teaches a father as well as his son an important lesson. Gil, a player with bonus boy possibilities, is finally benched by manager Daly as a ""glory grabbing grandstander"" but couldn't care less; a driving father realizes his mistake in time and the team's triumph is one for all concerned... One for the middle distance, solid baseball and some sound values.
