MITTENS IN MAY

Nothing could induce Peter to remove the precious mittens sent him by his father- not the snickers of his schoolmates, not even the warm weather of May. Peter clings tenaciously to daddy's gift from winter to spring, until an interesting distraction weans him. A baby crow, separated from the nest, is given to Peter to nurture until it can fly. Logically dubbed Mittens, the crow succeeds in winning the little boy's attention. A psychologically sound idea is carried to extremes, not helped by Elliot Gilbert's stiff illustrations in two colors. A See and Read book with controlled vocabulary.
