Another of her delightful Kettle Creek stories -- good regional material with a thoroughly readable story, of interest to seven to nine year olds. Beginning readers will have some trouble with the dialect, but it is good read aloud material. The story follows the adventures of Jerry Jake and his friends in their efforts to save the little schoolhouse which is threatened by the loss of a deed -- the schoolhouse which has become the center of the mountain community's social life.
