KIRKUS REVIEW

The setting of these small boy adventures could easily be the same, Tennessee, as in May Justus' other warm, regional stories. Peter Pocket who is called so because he always has the most wonderful assortment of things at hand, lives with his Granny Messer and his pup, in their cabin at the foot of Pine Mountain. And their poverty is unobtrusive because they are lighthearted people whose joy is in life. Through the year, the seasons, Thanksgiving, Christmas, schooldays and summer vacation, Peter and his Granny make friends, have their bad times (that always turn out right) and their good-that, if unreal in their ever-present sunniness, do have a convincing virtue.
