A step up in the Maysie Greig tradition; although it is still designed for the circulating libraries, it has graduated from the strap hanger's solace to a fireside nook and a quiet evening. A bit of cross roughing -- Puss-in-the-Corner game -- on board ship, which winds up in a return to New York, to higher ideals, and to a wholesome interest in the man outside a narrow social orbit.
