I HAVE TWO COUNTRIES

Author of My Africa writes of his years in the United States, from 1939 when as a student from Nigeria he enrolled at Lincoln University, Philadelphia. His report on his response to culture, climate and customs, his description of educational routines at other universities, of ""balancing the Budget"" are near pathos, personal revelations. From campus troubles there are his ambitions to explain his country to us, his lecturing, articles and first book, which in turn led him into trouble with the draft board, his schools, and in his travels, with local mores. His final findings, indicating our ""favorable trends' and making the U.S. a second country, underline his world-mindedness. Intensely personal, stranger-in-our-midst accounting, which not only as the successor to My Africa but on its own, is new-perspective reading on our own country.
