POEMS: New and Selected

A collection of poems, some from his earlier two collections, 38 new ones. The author is a frequent contributor to many magazines, ranging from Harpers, Scribners, The Virginia Quarterly to The New Yorker. The first four sections are in more serious vein, pictorial, fluent, distinctive for virtuosity of technique, variety and skill of pattern, rather than for their content. They are volatile, imagistic, light. The fifth section is in humorous vein, but not up to the Nash or Fishback or Parker standard, though they have clever flashes.
