LIVERWURST IS MISSING

The ""rhinosterwurst"" who turned up at Applelard's farm in Applelard and Liverwurst is missing from the circus that now employs both. On the title pages even before this story begins, Kellogg enticingly reveals that he's been lured away with mushrooms, his favorite food. Applelard and his farm animals soon track the rhinoceros to Bovine Junction, home of burger tycoon Archibald McDoot--who, it turns out, plans a rhino-meat special at his restaurant chain. It takes the Wachatoo Indians (dispossessed by McDoot to the Asphalt Flats), the Koala Scouts from Camp Wattalottafun, all four surviving members of the 49th Cavalry, and Liverwurst's own mother to recover the animal from McDoot's tank-equipped guards. With Kellogg's manic visions and nutty details, it's a diverting rumpus.
