A story of the siege of Detroit, during the period round and about the French-Indian wars. Pontiac, brilliant strategist among Indians of lesser calibre, succeeded in bringing to their knees virtually all the settlements east of Detroit, along the Canadian line, but Detroit held, not through numbers, but through sheer grit. Here is a story of the young brother of the British Commandant, and of his chum, a boy of French parentage, with an Irish step-father, and of the exciting part they played, the complications they projected into the situation and the way in which they escaped. Good adventure, though the long arm of coincidence is a bit strained.
