Six interesting essays based on lecture-demonstrations given by six RCA scientists who participated in the Industry-Science Teaching Program. The essays cover pratical problem solving ( Goes to War), electron tubes (Envelopes Full of Energy), solid state physics (Art of Generating Holes), space technology (Heat goes into Orbit), space propulsion (To Mars on 6/1000 of a Pound of Thrust) and cryogenics (Surprises from the Deepest Freeze). The initial essay concerned with how to find the most efficient size of convoys to protect them from submarines is fascinating, and all the others are good basic introductions to their subjects.
