KIRKUS REVIEW

The driver here may be unusual--she's young Elisa Seltzer; otherwise, this simple photo essay details a typical recycling scheme. Elisa drives ``Uncle Bud'' (her truck) around the wooded streets of Ann Arbor, stowing presorted paper, glass, and cans (no plastic) into appropriate bins and then unloading them at a recycling center: ``very hard work'' for which she wears protective clothing. The color photos here are a bit dark, but nonetheless attractive and informative; the book begins with a simple, lucid explanation of why recycling is important and concludes with some basic things to do. Useful. (Nonfiction. 4-8)
