J. D. POLSON AND THE LIBERTY HEAD DIME

Not a companion for the sly contretemps of Paddington but a satiric comic book for older kids (reminiscent of Tintin, and similarly produced) featuring a Texas armadillo, J. D. Poison, who comes a_cropper in New York until he finds an 1894 Liberty Head dime (""You don't even need to pay for anything. You just show it around""), puts himself in the hands of Get Ahead Advisors, Inc., and winds up (after some false starts) as President of the US. Writes his proud mother, ringing down the curtain: ""P.S. How does it feel to have the loneliest job in the world?"" Some obvious yuks--but fresh or clever it isn't.
