MEDITATIONS ON EARLY CHRISTIAN SYMBOLS

The series of meditations offered here begin with a Scripture passage and close with a brief prayer. About forty symbols are presented, grouped under the headings of Symbols of God the Father, of God the Son, of God the Holy Spirit, of Holy Week, of New Testament Personalities and of Biblical Doctrines. As can be seen from these captions, and even more so from the total list of symbols, the term is used very loosely and no attempt is made to define a symbol in its deeper connotations. The ideas developed seem to lean toward the obvious and the style is simple.
