KIRKUS REVIEW

The American debut of an experienced Polish illustrator who now lives in New York. A child, half asleep, sees a wolf every time her eyes close, but a lamb when they open. Drifting from one consciousness to the other, she sees the wolf pursue the lamb until--when Mother wakes her--the lamb escapes. In powerful watercolors, almost devoid of detail, Grejniec captures the elusive, misty world of dreams. A quiet book that recognizes childhood apprehensions with a sensitivity that should help to allay them.
