Good masculine adventure, in the F. C. Wren tradition, a very contemporary tale of the hot desert, uncertain natives, Italian outposts, and the English fighting army. Brice, T. E. Lawrence replica, master of native ways, disguises, ruses, is sent by the English Intelligence to locate a band of rebel natives and incite them further against the Italians. He is piloted by young Pullford, who still believes his father -- missing since the last war -- is alive somewhere in the desert. The plane crashes, Pullford is taken by an Italian post, Brice engineers their escape, months of desert, of intrigue, and eventually back to English headquarters. And Brice never reveals the fact that he is Pullford's long lost father. Authentic feel -- well paced.
