These nine articles, written by Germans about the trial against major war criminals, are preceded by an introduction by Benton which gives the historical framework, in close scrutiny, of juridical techniques through the centuries, and of the need for further analysis of international penal and criminal law through international criminal court; of the ways in which illegality has expanded to criminality of aggressive war; of the recognition of individual responsibility. Dr. Stahmer gives the motion adopted by all defense counsel; the statement before the Nuremberg tribunal is by Herman Jahrreiss; there follow sections on international law; legal problems, penal jurisdiction over citizens of enemy states, the judgments of economists, of justices; there is a review and a conclusion. In a new, intricate, legalistic area, this speaks for the defense and offers a chance for study in the development and foundation of international law.
