A LONG TIME SLEEPING by Michael Sinclair

A LONG TIME SLEEPING

Pub Date: June 28th, 1976

This story of a Nazi residual/survivor is familiar to a degree by now but Sinclair varies it with sudden changes of place and character, all intricately interconnected. Who is the old man silenced once and for all in a nameless grave in Pennsylvania? Why does the already condemned (cancer) assistant to an America-first Senator, end his life more quickly? While in England a Foreign Office representative and a professor in Sussex all work on the old file of one William Schenker, Hitler's former aide de camp, who has surfaced here and there. Sinclair's entertainment is civilized in tone, complex, and Savile-tailored to the last buttonhole.
