THE QUESTIONS CHILDREN

In spite of the rather spatial title, this is actually a very definite book which provides ""basic guidelines"" on answering the questions which children ask and which often find their parents perplexed or constrained. The authors have based their book on interviews with people of all backgrounds (a doctor, educator, mother of eight, gas station attendant, etc.) and in their words, or the words of their young inquisitors, handle those troublesome questions of sex and birth, death, religious and ethical heliefs, adoption, divorce, discrimination, war, and the ill and the handicapped. The first person exchange gives this a very direct contact (viz. a seven year old whose mother has died -- ""At least I should've been allowed to say good bye"") and for further amplification of the problems posed, there is a good bibliography.
