KIRKUS REVIEW

With barely a quiver of the nostrils one follows the proceedings at London's venerable Blackstone Club where a fine collection of snuff boxes are on display and where the wine steward, a rather nice young scamp, is hired to lift them only to be accused of the murder of his employer. Then there's the booby-trapped snuff box sent to the retired, churlish Mr. Justice Whitby-Stansford. Upright as those black leather chairs in the smoking room and as such, satisfactory.
