DIGGERSAURS EXPLORE

Exploration’s just a little bit easier when you’ve mechanical monsters on your side.

Two tiny humans (one with dark skin and the other with light) and a host of diggersaurs are on a good old-fashioned treasure hunt. Trouble is, there are a lot of obstacles in the way that need to be removed. That means clearing fallen trees, drilling under steep slopes, hauling huge boulders, and more. Good thing the diggersaurs are always ready to lend a hand. When at last everyone reaches the beach, the diggersaurs find and excavate a beautiful golden diversaur, trapped beneath the sand for years. The diversaur may not be a treasure to take home, but don’t worry. Sharp-eyed spotters will notice that the humans find different hidden doodads on almost every two-page spread. Throughout the book, gentle rhyming text keeps the story moving and grooving. There is great pleasure to be found in following the little people as they scurry from place to place, and the reveal of the hidden diversaur is a treat. And while the individual names of the diggersaurs (“Grabbersaurus,” “Dozersaurus,” etc., are emblazoned on their sides) are less clever than those Chris Gall offers up in Dinotrux (2009), both dino and machine lovers will still find much to enjoy here.
