A light, semi-sympathetic novel of a very young and pretty face who is financially and romantically exploited. Minouche, 16, is taken in hand by two penniless impressarios -- Brago Ikistaw -- a Polish opportunist, and Hollywood, a would-be actor who decides that a cut on Minouche's career will be more lucrative. Set up in style by the two of them, receiving no cash -- but much credit, Minouche finally runs off -- takes a small job as a manicurist --and is seduced by the manager of the beauty parlor. At the close, sadder, wiser, and pregnant, she leaves for the United States with a Hollywood contract. Popular small story.
