THE DAY ELI WENT LOOKING FOR BEAR

We've been there before--on a youngster's big-game hunt that ends with his mother's finding him. And while this one doesn't make Eli seem altogether foolish, and his mother all-wise, the balance isn't exactly a delicate one. Mostly, Eli's search for the bear any youngster knows he's not going to find is punctuated by the antics of his ""silly red dog"" Brandy and marked by his own obvious mistakes in taking first a rabbit, then a squirrel, for a bear. There's nothing very right about it either: just a stale premise followed through without much imagination.
