Michelle Reynolds, who is 13, has dreamed up such stuff as Fancy Fish Food, Skunk Surprise, Goldfish Goodie, Pigeon Pie. . . and 27 other concoctions with ingredients ranging from bread, milk, and cherry tomatoes to dried flies, diced caterpillars, and live worms. Her Gainesburger Burger for dogs is a conventional (but unnecessary) mix of Gainesburger, raw hamburger, Gravy Train, and roll; Box Turtle's Treat is a more exotic combination of strawberries, blackberries, bananna (sic), diced grasshoppers, and cockroaches. The author wrote out the recipes by hand and drew her own unskilled cartoons. Some kids younger than she might take to such projects as the next step up from mudpies, but they shouldn't need these recipes to guide them--and their pets certainly don't need them.
