ONE BEAR AT BEDTIME

Still another counting book. The bear is joined by interesting other animals--three cheerful kangaroos jumping on the bed, four giraffes in the bath, six snakes who unwind the toilet paper, and, at nine, an almost empty page with cleverly hidden, one with each previous group of animals, so it's back to the beginning to find them all--a unique feature. There's a ten-headed monster (a bit soft and anxious) who takes forever to say good-night, and finally everyone is snoozing in a comfortable, countable heap. The illustrations are lighthearted and cleanly arranged on plenty of white space. Not extra-ordinary, but satisfying.
