RANGER OF '76

Even the historical facts seem like undisciplined fantasy in this breathless adventure story of the early Revolution. Orphaned 17-year-old Alan Craig at the start flees the persecutions of his Loyalist guardian and becomes a Rebel spy during the New York campaigns of '76. From here on in, Alan's derring-do and astonishing maneuvers save day after day, until one wonders if Washington could have managed to muddle through without him. History is entirely incidental to unreal characters and plot.
