THE GLASS SLIPPER

First rate whodunit, with suspense and shifting focus and conflict in personalities and a double thread of romance. Setting -- modern Chicago. Mystery of death of the first wife, and of all subsequent witnesses who might help convict the murderer, solved by characters themselves, not by a detective. Well sustained, though not wholly convincing in denouement. Sell as mystery novel, not straight crime yarn.
