That Medium for Murder (1977) returns--quietly imperious Mrs. Charles, a.k.a. Madame Adele Herrmann. Someone in the vicinity of Mrs. Charles' Gidding bungalow has been killing young lovelies and leaving tarot cards on their bodies, so Supt. Sayer asks Mrs. C. to interpret the meaning of the cards (the police are also consuiting her arch-rival clairvoyant, Rupert Roxeth). Are the cards clues to the murderer's identity? Or clues to the victim's sin against the murderer? A bit more tongue in Mrs. C.'s cheek would make this sort of nonsense a good deal more palatable (Warner seems to take it all quite seriously), but it's still harmless and competent stuff of the British garden variety.
