RUSSIA LAUGHS by Mikhail Zostchenko

RUSSIA LAUGHS

By

Pub Date: Sept. 9th, 1935
Publisher: Lothrop, Lee & Shepard

A collection of brief stories, sketches, fragmentary bits out of the literature of Soviet Russia -- each item selected as evidence in the claim that humor survives the revolution! There is a folk quality to much of the material that indicates the preponderance of the peasant strain -- and conditions under the Soviet form the basis of much of the humor. Rather a relief from the serious-minded approach to Soviet activities usually encountered. Not a book for wide sales -- but those interested in developments of modern Russia will want it.
