THE ART OF SOUTHERN COOKING

Watch out for this one. There is simply no end to Mrs. Warren's inventiveness: soak hamburger in condensed minestrone and vegetable soups; make an hors d'oeuvre with corn flakes and Cheddar cheese. The salads are poems to the cohesive powers of gelatin when confronted with alien ingredients. However, the shellfish recipes are fine and there are some punches (alcoholic) that will sock the imbiber in the ante-bellum. None but the brave deserve the fare.
