Three excellent additions to this biographical series dealing with the boyhoods of famous mn. Louisa Alcott is the first woman included in the series, and bids fair to be one of the most popular of the lot. The high standards of the series are maintained by these additions. One could wish Audubon had been more complete, for comparatively little has been written for young people about him. This, however, should provide a springboard for the Rourke book, and after that the Peattie....The Daniel Boone has somewhat more fictional feel than the others -- and makes surefire pioneer-Indian reading. Louise Alcott makes the perfect follow through for those girls who have read Little Woman and its sequels, and want more about the author. All of the books in this series provide the ideal opportunity for further reading suggestions, both in libraries (school and public) and in bookshops.
