KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of Firewood, which won the Avery Hopwood Prize at the University of Michigan last year, proves here that she is more than a flash in the pan. This second novel is not so compact a tale; it is a chronicle story of a family, with three world's fairs the connecting link, -- the glamor of an undreamed world which becomes a symbol of the aims which govern Julia's life. Nebraska and small town life brings outward conformity, but ever there is a tiny seed of unrest. A book for women, primarily.
