Dr. Miles Lowell Yates, up to his death a year ago, was chaplain to the students at the General Theological Seminary (Episcopal) in New York. His students knew him as a humble, devout and wise man. This posthumous volume of meditations reflects his sincere faith, simple wisdom, and deep devotion. They are ""retreat"" addresses which he gave frequently, pointing his hearers always towards Christ, the King, by whose grace and love alone we can live lives of meaning and worth. The publishers present it as their ""Advent Book"" meaning that it may well be read as preparation for Christmas. Many layman and clergy of all denominations will find it both moving and helpful, but it is likely that it will be mostly used by Episcopalians.
