KIRKUS REVIEW

A smoothly written, action-packed tale of the Revolution begins when young Robbie becomes one of Jim Thorn's whaleboat warriors on the coast of Long Island. The Redcoat invasion of the Island and the thriving underground plots of the Revolutionaries working between Connecticut and Long Island form suspenseful scenes; the author follows the winding trail of Robbie closely, however, and does not lose him in the crowds of robust soldiers. The realistic adventure story will go far beyond the obvious regional market-- by the author of Caravan from Timbukto (1961, p. 59, J-31).
