With his chronically mismatched attire, Daddy can be embarrassing. Still, he has virtues--such as making a point of knowing his kids' friends and enjoying family outings, and the fact that ""people seem to like him no matter what he wears."" This warm portrait makes its point with affectionate good humor; Otey's misty, nicely composed watercolors effectively capture the amused astonishment of Dad's many observers. A fine debut.
