KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of Laurie's New Brother (1961, p. 399, J-149) and others, here writes humorously about real, unpampered children. The preposterous chain-of-events tale ""uncoils"" easily thourgh brief narration and lively dialogue. Beginning readers will quickly learn the new words as they follow pet Snake's trail from Betsy's box to car, from department store to a surprised boy and from boy to Betsy. However, observant children will not be satisfied with the cartoon type illustrations in which all except Snake are endowed with snoutish profiles.
